Adolescents and teenagers

As your family evolves, there may be times of concern for your adolescent(s) or teenager(s). Perhaps these are concerns at school, self-esteem issues, trouble with friendships, or challenges in cooperation with the household responsibilities. Maybe you could start with a ‘life assessment” to make sure that you and your young adult(s) are communicating effectively and continuing to work together as a family.
At Hope in Healing we recognize the challenges this transitional time posits for both family members as well as the teenager(s) or adolescent(s) and will work with your family to maneuver through this time of change.
Young adults are in a unique place in life. They are attempting to venture on their own in many ways including establishing friendships, testing their footing in making decisions that will affect them for life, and trying to balance the relationships they have at home. In addition to working to understand these crossroads, parents/caregivers are also faced with the challenge of where to draw the line between freedom for their teenagers in order to protect and provide guidance. Wrong decisions at this time in life can have lasting consequences that parents may not believe teens understand quite yet.
At Hope in Healing our team has years of diverse experience in dealing with this age group, from tutoring needs to discipline concerns, to suspicion of substance use, and all things in between. When working with your teen as well as the parent/caregiver, our team will utilize the strengths of the family while working to understand the perspective of each person involved.
